민주당 이상민 의원, 내주 與 혁신위와 대담…거취 정할지 주목

이상민 더불어민주당 의원(5선·대전 유성을)이 내주 국민의힘 혁신위원회 위원을 대상으로 강연에 나선다.
혁신위는 18일 공지문은 통해 “오는 21일 대전에서 이 의원을 초청해 한국 정치의 문제점과 개혁방안 등에 대한 강의를 들을 것”이라고 밝혔다. 강연 이후엔 이 의원과 혁신위 위원 간 토론도 있을 예정이다.
양측은 아직 구체적인 시간과 장소는 조율 중이다.
앞서 이 의원이 여러 차례 탈당을 시사하는 발언을 했다는 점에서 강연 이후 향후 거취를 언급할지 주목된다.
이 의원은 지난 15일 BBS 라디오에 출연해 ‘이준석 전 국민의힘 대표 신당 합류 가능성에서 국민의힘 입당 선택지까지 열어놓은 것인가’라는 질문에 “예”라고 답변했다.
이어 “어떤 씨를 뿌리고,민주당이상민의원내주신위와대담거취정할지주목 어떤 거름을 주고 물을 준다고 하더라도 민주당이 어떤 개과천선을 할 가능성이나 결함, 한계를 넘어설 가능성이 1%도 없다”며 “민주당을 떠난다면 어느 가능성이든 배제할 필요가 없다”는 입장을 밝혔다.
그는 당시 “시간이 자꾸 늦춰지면 늦춰질수록 소위 공천을 흥정하는 것처럼 비칠 수 있고 역이용 당할 수가 있기 때문에 빨리 결정해야 한다고 생각한다”며 12월 초까지는 자신의 거취를 결정할 것이라 했다.
혁신위는 강연 이후 과학기술계 인사들과 만나 R&D(연구개발) 관련 거버넌스 체계 개선 등에 관해 토론도 할 예정이다.
